Hey Folks,

Welcome to our 50th Hailing Frequency Episode. Given the relative quietness in the community as of late, we didnt really have alot to celebrate with, so this is a fairly typical show.

K'suan'indra brings us the latest Star Trek Gaming News roundup as always, and following that we talk about the Current State of the MMO Devlopment world and how risky it is at the moment in MMO Development. With Star Trek Online struggling to be developed, the everchanging devlopment world could see the project shelved!

In Mod Weekly this week, we hear about a Star Trek Mod for the Hit RPG, Neverwinter Nights 2, and we get an update on the DJ Galaxy Class for Bridge Commander.

Kinneas had a chance to play a 2 week free trial on EVE-Online - We hear from a long time trek gamer how EVE shapes up. Does it have good gameplay and what would work in STO?

STO-Zone gets a revamp this week and has a fresh new audio bed. Juliano talks about Ship Models this week! Great Stuff!

Fan game, "Star Trek: The Neutral Zone 2" which was cancelled last year, has been revived by its lead programmer, Kresimir Spes.

Star Trek: The Neutral Zone 2 is a computer game based on the Star Trek series created by Gene Roddenberry. It it designed as a 2D arcade-style game where you could shoot your enemies down with phasers, many types of torpedoes, mines, disruptors, etc. There will be a lot of room for tactics. You can go to warp, cloak, and tractor-beam almost everything and ram it into other ships.

Development ceased last year due to lack of assistance on the project, however he now has a team of people working to code the game in Python.
The game is now fully open-source and is hosted on sourceforge (link).Source is available via SVN (link).

Over the coming weeks, They plan to update all the content on their website and incorporate an information wiki, as well as, of course ,working on the game.

Rockstar Acquires Mad Doc Software, Creates Rockstar New England Publisher and Take-Two subsidiary Rockstar has announced that it has acquired Andover, MA-based Mad Doc Software, who most recently worked with the publisher on its Xbox 360 version of Bully, creating the newly labeled Rockstar New England.

The studio was founded by AI and networking specialist Dr. Ian Lane Davis, who counts among his credits work on Empire Earth, Empire Earth II, Star Trek:Armada I & II, and Dungeon Siege: Legends of Aranna. Previous to Bully, Mad Doc worked with Bethesda on Star Trek: Legacy for the PC and Xbox 360.

Terms of the acquisition were not released, nor were any future plans for the studio given, apart from Rockstar founder Sam Houser saying the studio would "enhance our core technology and further support our commitment to creating progressive and innovative gaming experiences." The company's website does note that it is currently developing unnamed Xbox Live Arcade titles.

Said Dr. Davis, “To be a part of Rockstar Games is an amazing opportunity for everyone here. We’re eager to bring our expertise to bear in the character-driven, open-world stories that make Rockstar Games titles so uniquely compelling.”
