[edit] Game Features

The Borg have returned! A starship from the future has materialized to warn of the latest Borg threat. You are in charge of the fleets of the Federation, Klingon, Romulan and Borg ships that will wage this epic battle. Build starships, construct space stations, and research special weapons to lead your side to victory. Along the journey, you will survive a Klingon civil war, Romulan subterfuge and the Borg’s search for perfection. The future is in your command.

Star Trek: Armada is the first real-time 3-D strategy game set in the Star Trek: The Next Generation® universe. In various campaigns, the player assumes command of the fleets of far distant races using up to 30 starships in dynamic ship-to-ship combat, as well as overseeing the construction, repair and staffing of the ships.

Features:

  • Lead Four Distinct Races: Command the major races of Star Trek: The Next Generation: the Federation, the Klingons, the Romulans and the Borg. Each side presents a different tactical challenge to master as you attempt to conquer your opponents – allowing for a variety of mission types and story angles.
  • Survive 20 Action-Packed Missions: Campaigns are comprised of a variety of tactical, combat and protective missions which advance the overall story – from the eerie warnings of the Borg invasion to the ultimate Picard-Locutus showdown. Mission briefings take place in the game for seamless cinematic integration.
  • Cinematic Action: Star Trek: Armada takes you into the battle with the ability to play the game from the middle of skirmishes. Or, take a bird’s eye view of the game from the tactical screen. The real time 3D engine allows you to choose the best angle to wage your campaigns.
  • An Immense Fleet at Your Disposal: Build over 30 types of starships, including battleships, cruisers, destroyers, scout ships, cargo ships, transport ships and construction ships. Arm your fleet with a multitude of weapons, from Phasers to Photon Torpedoes, and build research stations to develop additional specialized weapons.
  • Command or Engage Others: Star Trek: Armada offers a variety of single-player missions – from large battles to small escort details – and an extensive range of story-driven multiplayer options, including up-to-eight-player competitions over LAN and the Internet.

[edit] Story

Stardate: 53550.0

The Dominion War is over. The three major powers of the Alpha Quadrant, once allied against a common foe, begin planning for the future. For now, an uncomfortable peace has settled in the Galaxy.

On Federation planets across the galaxy, the process of recovery has begun. The USS Enterprise E, commanded by Captain Jean Luc Picard, is assigned to re-establish Federation support in some of the more devastated systems of the Quadrant.

On the Klingon Homeworld of Qo'nos, the population grows restless for battle. Newly appointed Chancellor Martok works closely with Federation Ambassador Worf on efforts to restore the Empire to its former state of glory.

On Romulus, the Romulan Senate and its intelligence division, the Tal Shi'ar, conspire to tip the balance of power into their favor. Admiral Sela begins secret negotiations with unseen allies near the Klingon border.

And on the fringe of explored space, massive, metallic shapes move silently through the area, leaving a trail of destruction in their wake. Around them are the whispers of millions of minds working as one. The Borg have returned.
