GameTrailers: Is this game sort of the hand held version of Star Trek: Legacy or is this a brand new game all on its own?

Cory Nelson: This is a brand new game. It's been designed from the ground up market specifically for the hand held markets for the Sony PSP and the Nintendo DS. We have a completely different campaign track. We're also focusing in a different time frame. This is the movie era of Star Trek. So, it starts out between the first and second movies and goes through to the sixth movie. The story line, we have two campaigns; we have a Klingon and Federation campaign. The Federation campaign starts right between the first and second movies and in it you are dealing with the Klingons trying to get peace with them, and once you complete the Federation campaign it goes through. You start up the Klingon campaign, so it is right around the Khitomer Massacre. At this point, you are dealing with the Romulans quite a bit. You are also dealing with an uneasy truce with the Federation.

It is certainly not free-roaming. It's not thread-based either. It is heavily combat-oriented but very episodic-style game play. What I mean by that, is that the missions are done in such a way that they're very similar to the way the episodes were done in the original series and the Next Generation. So, you as the captain are going to make command decisions. Do I want to go and blow the Klingons away? Or do I want to actually try to use some diplomacy in talking to them. All these things affect the mission. They do affect the campaign on how things progress. You will have a lot of the different events from the movies and episodes are certainly mentioned and you are certainly involved in them; however, the crew is a new brand crew.

The story is told with you as the captain, so you are going get a briefing from your Admiral, and he is going to give you instructions on what you need to go do. And as you go through, you're going to investigate what's going on. You can scan sectors. You can hail other ships. You can warp to different sectors to investigate the different. You'll find in some cases, the order, the mission that you were given actually you were going off to do, in some cases, you are going get to half of the mission and find out, Hey wait, based on circumstances my mission has changed.

We have of people go though to play missions and that mission is a lot of fun and I'll ask the question, "Well, were you able to save the colonists?" and their reaction is, "I didn't know you could.."

We have head-to-head multiplayer. That allows you to play one of 20 ships split between five different races. We'll have a skirmish mode that allows you to play. In single player you can set up to four ships in a custom battle. With those same ships, you can free-for-all or team play, whatever you like to play.
