One of the greatest tactical advantages of Borg Drones is the ability to adapt to the modulations alien weaponry, making them useless. To combat this, Voyager crewman Seven of Nine designed the Infinity Modulator (or I-Mod), which infinitly changes the modulation of the weapon so that the Borg cannot adapt. The I-Mod was field tested by the Hazard Team while on a mission to retrieve Isodesium from a Borg Cube trapped in The Forge.

The Infinity Modulator recieved an upgrade after the USS Voyager escaped from The Forge. The newer, bulkier version of the weapon was used during the Hazard Team's mission to free the USS Voyager from a dampening field whilst trapped inside a Borg Sphere whilst using a Transwarp aepeture to return to the Alpha Quadrant.
