Video - Hands-On (Gameplay Monthly)

One of the first videos to make it to the public eye, this one comes from E3 2006. It is a hands-on video, meaning that we get to witness someone playing the game.

The player is trying the Kirk vs Kahn scenario, and he starts of by being pounded by Kahn, and trying to recover and fight back. All the while, the controls are being explained to him by a Bethesda representative. He does a decent job of flying and fighting back, inflicting some damage to the Reliant.

Things to look for:

0:14 - The player brings up the energy allocation toggle. This traingular control allows you to easily divert energy to weapons, shields, or engines. It also displays the current thrust you are putting out.

0:28 - The Enterprise takes a torpedo to the starboard nacelle and begins to leak fire and smoke. This nicely shows off the damage effects. You can also see what appears to be a ruperstructure under the skin of the nacelle.

1:07 - There is a heavy exchange of fire between the Enterprise and Reliant. They both fire torpedoes and phasers, and each land some good hits.

1:21 - A readout aapears in the upper right corner that seems to show the amount of damage the Reliant and her shields have taken, as well as a bracket around the part of the ship that is facing the player ship.

This video was a nice sight to see the first time I watched it, and I still enjoy watching it. The effects are nicely done in the game, and the feel of the gameplay is very well portrayed here.
